What is the difference between KAEN and KIME?+

KAEN preserves the deep carbon surface created during charring. KIME is charred and then brushed to reveal the natural timber grain before the selected colour finish is applied.

Can I create my own sample box?+

Yes. The custom builder lets you combine any of the available charred samples across larch, Japanese Cedar and Accoya®.

Can I combine different timber species?+

Yes - the custom builder allows samples from multiple species in one box, within the configured maximum.

Why are only certain timber and colour combinations available?+

Some finishes are only offered where the timber and surface family perform reliably together. Only these tested combinations are shown.

Is reclaimed wood treated with fire?+

No. Reclaimed wood is never charred. It is cleaned, stabilised and either left with its naturally weathered surface or mechanically brushed to reveal the warmer timber beneath.

What is included in the Reclaimed Wood Pair?+

Both Reclaimed Natural Grey and Reclaimed Brushed Natural. The pair is fixed and does not include finish, colour or profile options.

Will my final order look exactly like the sample?+

Timber is a natural material. Samples represent the general character of a surface; grain, tone and texture will vary between boards in a full order.

Can architects and designers order samples?+

Yes. Please select the appropriate customer type in the ordering form and, if relevant, include your EU VAT number.

Are sample costs credited against a future order?+

This depends on the current sample programme configuration. Where credits apply, they will be confirmed on the review step of your order.

How quickly are samples dispatched?+

Sample orders are typically dispatched within the timeframe shown on the review step of your order.

Can BAUWN help me select the right material?+

Yes. Tick the guidance option in the contact step of the ordering form and our team will follow up with recommendations.

Do you send samples throughout the Benelux and Europe?+

Yes. We dispatch sample orders across the Benelux and the rest of Europe. Shipping is confirmed on the review step.
