A working yard outside Enschede gains a single long barn that does two jobs at once: covered parking at one end, and an open, sheltered room for family gatherings at the other, with a wide passage cut straight through to the fields beyond.

The outer skin is KIME Black charred larch - brushed back to an even, soft-grained black that holds the silhouette against a grey Twente sky. Inside the passage and the gathering bay, the same species is laid in KIME Mahogany, where the char is brushed to reveal a deep red-brown grain that warms the space under the exposed pine trusses.

Both surfaces are installed vertically on the shadow gap profile, board to board without visible fixings, on a ventilated cavity above a concrete plinth. The result is a building that reads as a quiet black volume from the yard and turns unexpectedly warm the moment you step under its roof.
